Financial / Health and Safety Matters

Current school projections indicate a healthy surplus position at the end of the financial year 2013/2014. Moving in to the new financial year (2014 /2015) the budget is still in a healthy position with around a 4% surplus (£230K) which is around the recommended surplus of 5%. Whilst this may seem a large amount of money, the school faces a number of challenges and stringent budget monitoring and spending has assisted in this surplus figure.

As a school we are not to be complacent. We continually seek best value for goods and services, but are faced with a very ageing school where repairs are proving to be very costly. Repairs have been carried out to the roof, windows and the tarmac around the school.

Maintenance work carried out at the school is completed by the local authority’s preferred suppliers and contractors. This ensures peace of mind that tradesmen are competent and ensures the school is legally compliant.

Music Tuition and Trips

We are now electronic!

The system has now changed as we no longer require children to bring money in to school. The school now raises invoices for trips and music tuition which is proving to be very successful.

Parents can pay over the phone at any time, can visit the finance office or pay online. This reduces the amount of cash on school premises, reduces the risk of us being targeted by thieves and is much safer for parents and children. There is also a transparent audit trail.

Plans for the future include going cashless in the canteen…..watch this space!
