Iaith Gymraeg a Diwylliant Cymru.

At Ysgol Croesyceiliog, we proudly celebrate and promote Cymraeg and Cymriectod through a wide range of engaging and meaningful initiatives. We make learning and using Welsh an exciting part of school life through fun activities, events, and initiatives. Passionate about Wales' history and traditions, we strive to make the language accessible to everyone, regardless of proficiency. By working with teachers, pupils, and the community, we aim to ensure Welsh thrives in our school and beyond, creating a future where the language is celebrated and valued.

The Cymdeithas Cymraeg Croesy plays an integral role in this. The Cymdeithas is a dedicated group of pupils who champion using Cymraeg throughout the school. They take on the role of “Ditectifs Dysgu,” to support staff using Welsh in everyday situations. Staff have been given ‘Cymraeg Cheat Sheets' to support them using Cymraeg often. These were designed to support teachers using Cymraeg in their daily lessons. We also have posters in all our offices highlighting our Cymraeg @ Croesy expectations.

Ysgol Croesyceiliog has already achieved the Siarter Iaith Bronze Award and is now proudly working towards the Silver Award, showing a continued commitment to embedding Welsh language use in daily life. Staff are encouraged to speak Cymraeg through the “Brawddeg y Bythefnos” (Phrase of the Fortnight) and pupils can earn ClassCharts points for ‘siarad Cymraeg’.

Cultural celebrations such as the Eisteddfod, Diwrnod Shwmae, and Dydd Santes Dwynwen bring the language to life, alongside enrichment activities like a school trip to Llangrannog for our year 8 pupils.

Furthermore, the Cymdeithas Cymraeg Croesy has presented their work to the governing body, highlighting the school’s strong emphasis on pupil voice and cultural identity.
